Crosthwaite is a village at the north-western end of the Lyth Valley. The village is the home of the Crosthwaite Exchange, where people can meet to buy local produce, use a book exchange or buy refreshments.
The village contains the Punch Bowl Inn, a pub and restaurant. The current Church of St. Mary's was built in 1878-9, and was largely paid for by the Argles family, at that time the main landowner in the area. The village is damson country, and the Lyth valley still contains a large number of damson trees, although not as many as in the past.
Directions: Crosthwaite sits on a minor road that branches off from the A 5074 about three miles to the south-east of Windermere.
